If you're a senior who hasn't started using Twitter yet, there's so much that you're missing. Although it falls under the term social media, it's more than keeping up with friends. Having a Twitter account puts a variety of information at your fingertips all in one place. Every day, people and organizations 'Tweet' advice that is relevant for older ones. You can get practical information that you need for daily living as well as recipes and other things you enjoy. Here are some basic instructions on getting started and using an account.
First, you need to set up an account on Twitter.com. You'll see a 'SIGNUP' button close to the top right corner. Once you click on it, you'll need to type in your first and last name, phone number or email address, and choose a password. On the next screen, you'll create a username. This could be your first and last name, a nickname, or any combination of descriptive words you want to be identified by.
After you're all setup, you'll need to choose some accounts to 'follow'. Following them means you'll see their 'Tweets' in your news feed and you can click on the ones that interest you. Twitter will show you some suggestions which you can accept or deselect. You'll also see a search bar where you can look for people or organizations you want to follow.
